Matthew Sample works on philosophical problems bridging philosophy of science, bioethics, and science and technology studies (STS). Most recently, his dissertation employs the STS concept of "sociotechnical imaginary" to explicate the political and ethical underpinnings of neural engineering practice. His graduate work has included studies at the University of Cambridge (M.Phil, history & philosophy of science), the University of Washington (Ph.D., philosophy), and a fellowship at the Harvard Program on Science, Technology, and Society.
